Dear Friends,
Thank you for your response to help Sarah, our recently widowed friend. Over $20,000 has been raised by multiple groups, to assist. THANK YOU for your generous hearts! We have formed a group of Christian friends to help support her in next steps. I will keep you informed. Please pray that Sarah can easily acquire needed documents for her family. Please, also pray that God would open that door for Sarah's family to come to America, if that is His will. She desires this very much. We know that all things are possible to those who believe. We serve a very big God who formed us all and knew all about us even as we were being formed in the womb. How hopeful is that?!
Psalm 139:14-18 says, "I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee."
Years ago, singer/songwriter Kelly Willard set to music, the words of Psalm 139. Click here to hear her sing this Psalm. Aren't you glad God inspires us to create songs based on His Word?
Here is a song I wrote based on Psalm 86:11-13. Unite my heart to fear Thy name. I will give thanks to Thee.
What are we to fear? God's Name.
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom."
That's a super place to start your journey to freedom from fear. There is so much fear in the world, today. I've never seen anything like it. The Psalmist wrote, "Teach me Thy ways. I will walk in YOUR TRUTH." We don't need to fear viruses or scary world events, or the doom and gloom news coming across our screens every day. We need to fear God. Because He is the One who gives life, and knows every hair on our heads. He is the SOURCE of our being, and the One whom we can choose to spend eternity with. Listen to that Psalm 139 song again...It gives me such love for God, and thankfulness in my heart that He's got my life in His hands. I am safe under the Shadow of the Almighty.
Not only are we to fear God, Psalm 1 urges us to NOT to fear or walk in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stand the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scornful. Yet, often, where do we go first for advice? Do we go to secular sources for health advice, news and more?
I have lost a desire for lots of news sources of late. Instead, I first turn to God's Word for my hope, instruction, health and strength. God led me to Psalm 118:17 last year, during a dark time. "I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord." What a privilege to declare the works of my Lord. Maybe if we spend more time declaring God's works, we can persuade more people to fear God instead of man or covid.
Be encouraged this day! God has a plan. His ways are higher than ours, says Isaiah 55. We can trust Him!
