Mike and I are just back from Antigua, Guatemala. Normally, we are there on a mission trip; reaching out and serving others. This time, I was served and ministered to greatly by many people. Freely we give and freely we receive. It sounds selfish, but it's the way of God. He gave us His Son. His Son gave us life through His death and resurrection. And now we give and receive in return, over and over again. That's Kingdom living. In God.
I went to Guatemala this trip to have surgery. When I arrived, I had a series of pre-op tests done, and realized I was in for a major, instead of minor surgery. My heart fluttered and I shed a few tears, but pressed on. God was with me. He knew...
We had arranged for some of our missionary friends to visit us before the surgery, and one of them ended up spending the night before my hospitalization, only to help us navigate through paperwork in a Spanish speaking hospital. God knew.
God took care of little and big details. He provided our lodging on the "Avenue of the Holy Spirit." That was our first clue we were in good hands. Next, He provided a capable doctor who was very able to change his plans 36 hours before the surgery, and perform not one, but two surgeries to fix my body.
A little detail was miraculously providing parking overnight, for our friend, Pamela's truck. Just across the street in a safe parking place.
Another blessing was being a 2 minute walk away from the doctor's office, and only a 5 minute walk from the hospital. These things all matter when you're in a strange place. But God knew...
It was as if He was orchestrating every detail, as a master conductor brings in the violins against the sound of the percussion and woodwinds. Just at the right place in the music. Just at the right time. God knew...
The surgery went fine, and I was on bed rest for a week. Mike took good care of me, and was even able to assist the doctor, the day before our flight back, in removing a few stitches that were causing discomfort.
When we walk surrendered to God, He paves the way for His plan in our lives. This trip was part of His plan before I had any idea I would be part of it. He brought the right people into our lives over the last few years, to assist and help with everything we needed. God knew...
When you are afraid, trust God. He knows.
