Dear Friends,
This is WHY we go:
"No one EVER comes all the way to PNG
to care for us! You came to the ends of the earth to encourage us!"
This statement was made years ago, when Thrive went PNG to minister to missionaries there. We ask that missionaries attend one Thrive retreat, and allow others to sign up, if Thrive comes through their country again. This enables more missionary women to participate in the support.
But with Thrive's new aftercare ministry, all missionary women who would like to connect with a Christian mentor back home, will be able to. Good things happening!
Thrive retreats travel TO the missionaries who may not be able to leave their country of service to receive the kind of support and encouragement we provide.
If you'd like to see a map of where I'm going, scroll down. PNG is directly above Australia. My friend, and photographer, Dori McCormick will be traveling with other Thrive volunteers and me, ministering to women serving in PNG.
I'm excited to tell you we received a $500 check in the mail this week! and another check for $100. We're inching closer each week, to our goal of $5000 for this mission trip. Thank you!
Our friend wrote, "I noticed on your FB posting, your plans for the missions trip to Papua New Guinea October 24-November 7th; and wanted to send you a small bit of help toward your journey. May the Lord grant you traveling protection and safety and great success in ministry, as His love and grace, in such a needy part of the world!"
Yes, we are thrilled to go with Jesus' love and grace to these women who serve in this needy part of the world. We covet your prayers as we go.
Helping Hands still needs $1900.00 to cover the flight costs all the way to PNG. It actually takes five separate flights (almost 24 hours in the air) to get from Maine to Papua New Guinea. Thr trip includes stops in Baltimore, Los Angeles and Australia, then PNG, with a LONG flight over the Pacific Ocean.
Traveling through the International Date Line, we will skip a day on the way over, and enjoy 2 of the same day on the way back. I will experience the "daytime" of November 7th twice in a row, with no night in between. I can't really wrap my mind around that one! If you'd like to learn more about the international date line, click here.
Do you know anyone serving in PNG? If so, please invite them to sign up for the Thrive Retreat in October. Feel free to forward this email to your PNG missionary friends. They may Click here to register.
Financial Update: $1670 is still needed.
Four churches giving $500 or seven people giving $250 would help meet our goal.
Thank you for prayerfully considering what you can do to partner with Helping Hands Ministry.
